FYI: The following letter was sent to the PNWGA Board on Sept. 29. 2022.

To: The PNWGC Board,

We have recently become aware that Pasadena Nisei Women's Golf Club (PNWGC) has
requested a constitutional change allowing "optional" membership in Southern California
Nisei Women's Golf Association (the Association or SCNWGA) for the upcoming year.

In 1990, PNWGC, along with other Nisei golf clubs, agreed to form the Association to allow
and encourage interaction between our clubs and our respective memberships. During the
past 32 years, the sanctioned clubs of SCNWGA have together enjoyed four tournaments
provided annually. These activities have promoted/encouraged camaraderie and have allowed
our members to play golf, socialize, compete, and most notably, appreciate time together.
The agreement/commitment made at the Association's inception was that every member of each
club would become an automatic member of the Association…a premise which is clearly reflected
in the constitutions of each member club (sanctioned by SCNWGA).

Should this change, then SCNWGA must face some very difficult decisions. It is not fair that
one club decides to change it's (constitutional) commitment:

     a. without clearly notifying all other sanctioned clubs AND the Association,

     b. violating the constitution of the Association without allowing its own members
to realize the full ramifications of its actions,

     c. and expect that SCNWGA should allow "some" of their members to enjoy privileges
when the full commitment of their organization no longer exists. This is not acceptable.

Unfortunately, should PNWGC vote to allow this change, SCNWGA would be left to make many
difficult decisions. First and foremost, PNWGC would no longer be a sanctioned club...meaning
that all PNWGC members would immediately become ineligible to participate in future SCNWGA
tournaments. Was this explained to all PNWGC members when they were asked to vote?

Yes, this would directly affect the activities of SCNWGA, so we would have appreciated proper
notification prior to this extreme decision. However, the main reason for our disappointment
is that we could have "positively" approached problems as we have in the last 32 years.
Apparently, that was not a consideration.

Our understanding is that the vote requested, fails to explain the full ramifications to your
membership…many of whom clearly enjoy SCNWGA tournaments. Please consider taking a more
comprehensive view of your actions before finalizing this vote.

Sincerely,

SCNWGA Board
